South Belfast Quaker Meeting will be the European & Middle East Section host on World Quaker Day, the 2nd of October 2022

The link to join us via Zoom for Meeting for Worship will be sent out to anyone registering at the FWCC website for the event

World Quaker Day is an annual event where we celebrate the diversity of Quakerism around the world and build connections to make our community stronger.

This year, every Friends Church or Meeting is encouraged to send or receive visitors to or from another Quaker group, to bring greetings, build relationships and share ideas.

Intervisitation today is the easiest it has ever been, with many Quakers meeting online or in hybrid form.

New Online Meeting for Worship

We're delighted to announce that all our online worship is now in partnership with FWCC-Europe and Middle East Section (EMES) - Quaker. This is in recognition of the global nature of our worship and to further foster connections between European Friends. 🌍🤝

Together we are trialling new Sunday evening worship every week, starting this Sunday. Sunday worship will also be using Zoom, Wednesday and Friday will remain on Adobe Connect as normal. 🙏

SOUTH BELFAST QUAKERS

Quakers (or the Religious Society of Friends as they are also known), have held Meetings for Worship in Ireland since 1654. After a previous failed attempt to establish a lasting Belfast Meeting around 1665, the first permanent Belfast Quaker Meeting was established in 1799, and in 1810 it moved to Brewery Lane, now known as Frederick Street. It wasn’t until 1956 that a second Meeting was approved for Friends who lived in Belfast, this time based in the south of the city. South Belfast Meeting House is an active Meeting with approximately 45 adult members and attenders who worship together each Sunday. Children & Young People also play a large part in our meeting, and we have on average 22, 1-18 year olds joining us for the last 10 mins of our worship, after their own activities.
